Duke Recruits Men For Program To Fight “Toxic Masculinity”

Duke University is recruiting male students for a nine-week program that pledges to “destabilize masculine privilege” and “interrogate masculinity.”   The program, known as the Duke University Men’s Project, seeks to help men examine how their masculinities exist “often in toxic ways” while beginning “the work of unlearning violence.”  Read

Children Don’t Exist to Advance Your Politics

Children Don’t Exist to Advance Your Politics

It’s worth remembering that politics is far from the most important thing in any life. Polly Dunning has managed to compose perhaps the creepiest sentence ever written: “By having sons, we do feminism a great service.” The line appears in Wednesday’s Sydney Morning Herald, in a piece entitled “Having a Son Went from a Dilemma to Being the Most Valuable Lesson of My Life.” “I’ve always been a feminist,” Dunning writes. But after longing for a daughter, she discovered that she had become pregnant with (horror!) a son. She describes the anxiety that followed:

Charlotte Observer: Girls must overcome ‘discomfort’ of seeing ‘male genitalia’ in locker rooms

Charlotte Observer: Girls must overcome ‘discomfort’ of seeing ‘male genitalia’ in locker rooms

A leading North Carolina newspaper issued an editorial last week telling girls to attempt “overcoming discomfort” at the sight of “male genitalia,” should transgender bathroom laws be enacted.  In a defense of President Obama’s order compelling schools to allow access to restrooms on the basis of gender identity, the Charlotte Observer editorial board compared the discomfort of school-aged girls seeing male genitalia in locker rooms to the discomfort of white people being around black people in post-segregation America.

NOW President: Babies Wouldn’t Die So Much If We’d Just Kill Them Before They Died

NOW President: Babies Wouldn’t Die So Much If We’d Just Kill Them Before They Died

National Organization for Women (NOW) president Terry O’Neill published an editorial on the Huffington Post today entitled, “Abortion, Like Contraception, Is Essential Health Care That Saves Lives.”   Let that sink in for a second. A procedure that’s taken over 50 million lives in the U.S. alone since 1973 . . . saves lives.  How does O’Neill get to the conclusion promised in the title, that “abortion care” saves lives? Easy! She ignores 50% of the people involved in every abortion.  The first place she looks for saved lives from abortion is high infant mortality rates. They’d be so much lower if more of those pesky underprivileged women would just get more abortions. That’s right, her solution to high infant mortality rates is to kill the babies before they get the chance to die!  read

Obama doesn’t think rapists, armed robbers, drug dealers are criminals

Obama doesn’t think rapists, armed robbers, drug dealers are criminals

t’s only May, but I think I’ve found the euphemism of the year: According to Team Obama, criminals should now be declared “justice-involved individuals.”  The neo-Orwellianism comes to us from the bizarre flurry of last-minute diktats, regulations and bone-chilling threats collectively known to fanboys as Obama’s Gorgeous Goodbye.  In another of those smiley-faced, but deeply sinister, “Dear Colleague” letters sent to universities and colleges this week, Obama’s Education Secretary John King discouraged colleges from asking applicants whether they were convicted criminals.  read

Admitted Bias: DOJ Moves Fast on NC Bathroom Bill But Snails Speed on Clinton Investigationf

Admitted Bias: DOJ Moves Fast on NC Bathroom Bill But Snails Speed on Clinton Investigationf

President Obama’s top law enforcement officer declined to give a firm answer on whether or not her department would take any action on the Hillary Clinton email scandal investigation before the end of election season. At a press conference held to announce the Department of Justice’s lawsuit against the state of North Carolina over its controversial bathroom safety legislation, Attorney General Loretta Lynch was asked why the DOJ was able to move so quickly on the latter of the two cases and slowly, in contrast, on the former. When pressed, Lynch would only say that the investigation against the former Secretary of State was simply still “ongoing.” – read

Former Facebook Workers: We Routinely Suppressed Conservative News

Facebook workers routinely suppressed news stories of interest to conservative readers from the social network’s influential “trending” news section, according to a former journalist who worked on the project. This individual says that workers prevented stories about the right-wing CPAC gathering, Mitt Romney, Rand Paul, and other conservative topics from appearing in the highly-influential section, even though they were organically trending among the site’s users.  read

BOSTON (AP) — Students who join Harvard’s male-only social clubs won’t be able to serve as sports captains or leaders of other campus groups starting in fall 2017.  The new policy, announced Friday by Harvard’s first female president, also applies to other unofficial single-gender groups on campus, including fraternities and sororities. Top officials at the university have been pushing those groups to stop excluding students based on gender even though they aren’t officially recognized by the school.  Read article

Franklin Graham, David Benham Warn Charlotte’s Transgender Bathroom Rights Proposal Would Open Door to Sex Predators, Limit Religious Freedom

Franklin Graham, David Benham Warn Charlotte’s Transgender Bathroom Rights Proposal Would Open Door to Sex Predators, Limit Religious Freedom

BY SAMUEL SMITH , CP REPORTER

As the hometown of world-renowned Evangelist Billy Graham, Charlotte N.C., prepares to vote on whether to allow transgenders the right to use the public restrooms that are designated for the opposite sex, his son, Franklin Graham, is questioning the judgement of the city council for even considering such a proposal.

“I cannot see why City Council would even consider this. It is not only ridiculous, it’s unsafe,” Graham, the 62-year-old president of Samaritan’s Purse humanitarian organization and Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, said in a statement.
